The 2012 Toyota Highlander
As a star player for Peterson Toyota the Toyota Highlander continues to dominate for the 2012 model year. The Highlander is the perfect combination of a vehicle with car-like performance and SUV-like versatility. From the roomy interior to the many amenities the Highlander offers, nothing can give you the peace of mind like Toyota’s legendary reliability.
The popular crossover vehicle, available in a three row option, has three trim levels to choose from:
- Highlander (MSRP $28,090)
- Highlander SE
- Highlander Limited
Also available in the 2012 Toyota Highlander is a hybrid version. For this blog post though, the focus will be on the non-hybrid Highlander. When the Highlander was first introduced in January 2001, it quite frankly pioneered the midsize crossover segment. Now, over ten years later, it is still king. Taking in all the great qualities of Toyota cars like the Camry to a higher level. A level where there the model is more spacious and versatile. The Highlander maintains car-like handling with outstanding fuel economy and it manages all this with seating for up to seven.
The Highlander and Highlander SE come standard with 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine (producing 187 hp and 186 lb/ft of torque) through a six-speed automatic transmission). If you prefer a V6, Toyota offers a 270-hp 3.5-liter (standard on the Limited). In all trim levels the Highlander is available with either front-wheel drive (FWD), or full-time four-wheel drive (4WD). Typically, the four-cylinder FWD drivetrain combination will run an estimated 25 mpg highway and the FWD V6 at 24 mpg highway.
The Highlander has an open and airy interior space with plenty of cargo room. Within seconds you can fold down the second and third row seats and open up 95.4 cubic feet of cargo space. Standard interior features include amenities like:
- 10 cupholders
- four bottle holders
- three 12-volt auxiliary power outlets
- plenty of storage space and electricity for everyone
Not only will the Highlander allow you to be comfortable on every trip, you’ll look great as well. The standard 17-inch alloy wheels in combination with the body-style create a stylish image. If you would like to take your Highlander to the next level, the Limited trim adds 19-inch wheels, chrome door handles and roof rails. To complete your style , the Highlander is available in your choice of nine exterior colors.
Toyota wants to make sure the time you spend in your Highlander is as effortless for you as possible. With a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, you have peace of mind. Toyota then offers you more; all new Toyota vehicles come with Toyota Care, acomplimentary maintenance plan that covers all factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles. The service also includes 24/7 roadside assistance.
